Even though she had nothing to do with American art, as a lifetime devotee of PBS cooking shows I would be remiss in not mentioning that today would have been the irrepressible Julia Child’s 100th birthday. If you’re near the Mall, take your lunchbreak at 1 p.m. and go see what they have planned for her surprise party at the National Museum of American History.
